Stellenbosch. This quaint student town declared by Simon van der Stel, Dutch governor of the Cape of Good Hope, and developed into a town in the early 1700's, houses some historic artifacts dating from this period.
One of the first ever indoor showers. A piano with vertical strings, one of only five in the world. An ice white Nederduitche Gereformeerde Kerk with stunning mosaic stained glass windows, towering majestically above the homes around it. A pulpit that is a work of wooden magic. A fire engine dating back to 1756 . Genuine slave chains of that era. A typical childrens playroom with toys dating from this era. There is so much more history to explore.
